Crawl credits and pricing

Crawl credits

The redirection.io crawler uses the concept of "credits" to crawl your website. Each time a page is downloaded and analyzed, a credit is consumed.

The number of credits required to crawl a website therefore depends on the number of pages to be browsed.

Which URLs are analyzed during a crawl?

Depending on the configuration of the crawl, the number of crawled URLs may vary.

By default, the crawler tries to explore all pages that are on the same domain name (sub-domains excluded) as the starting URL, and that can be accessed by clicking on links from this starting URL. The crawler also uses the sitemap.xml file if it is available, to discover URLs to include in the crawled area.

During a crawl, the redirection.io crawler may discover external URLs. These will not be crawled, and will not consume credits.

The crawl configuration can change the crawler's exploration behavior. Certain options, such as "Include all subdomains" or "Additional domains", can increase the number of URLs crawled. On the other hand, the "Maximum depth", "Maximum crawled URLs" or "Maximum crawl duration" options can limit the number of pages that will be crawled.

Review the crawl settings documentation to learn more about the crawl configuration options.

When a list of URLs is submitted to the crawler, the number of credits required to crawl the list of URLs is equal to the number of URLs in the list.

What happens when I am running out of credits?

When you are running out of credits, the crawler will stop and the crawl will be marked as "paused". You can then recharge your credits to resume the crawl.

Buying crawl credits

Crawl credits are available to purchase in the redirection.io manager interface. You can buy credits at any time, and they will be added to your account. Crawl credits can be used without time limit and do never expire.

Credits can be bought as a one-time purchase, or as a subscription. The subscription option allows you to automatically buy credits at regular intervals, to ensure that you always have enough credits to run your crawls.

See our pricing page to learn more about the cost of crawl credits.

Review your credits consumption

The total crawl credits available is displayed in the redirection.io manager interface, on the billing page and on the main crawler page. You can check how many credits your project has used by hitting the "Review your consumption" button.

The consumption page will display the number of credits consumed by each crawl, and the number of credits that have been added to your account, with all transaction dates.

Free credits

New redirection.io projects are granted a number of free credits to allow you to start exploring your website. The number of free credits depends on the plan you are using and may change in the future.
